May 19-22 Weekly Update

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

We hope that you enjoyed your long weekend! It was nice to have such beautiful weather to finally get a chance to be out in the garden! As many of you are aware, Friday was an important day with Premier Horgan, Dr. Henry and Minister Fleming’s announcements. With the Ministry of Education's announcement regarding students returning to school, we have been busy organizing and preparing for and examining options regarding how this will look for our school.

We are looking forward to welcoming students back to school on a part time, voluntary basis. Beginning June 1, students will be invited to come back to school. Please remember that attendance is voluntary, we are aware that this is a family decision. Teachers will be on site for assistance and that remote learning will continue in this next phase and until the end of June.

With the return of staff and students into the building, please be aware of utmost importance is the assurance of the health and safety of our students and staff is our biggest priority. Schools have been preparing for and we will be following all health and safety protocols to make sure that everyone stays safe. Over the next few days, we will be exploring several modifications to in-class instruction, including a variety of hybrid models and schedules. Parents should have received an emailed letter from Superintendent Dr. K. Godden.  The first step in our preparation is to gather from parents if they intend to send their children to school. Please assist us by completing our district survey. Families should complete this survey for each K-12 child in their household. Feedback will close Friday, May 22, 2020.

This week staff will continue to collaborate and plan for students' virtual learning. Staff communication via email, virtual, and phone connections continue. As well, as we also continue to learn together, please share what is working and what is challenging with your child's classroom teacher. We are trying so hard to find a balance for each family!

Lastly, do not forget to check out our PAC final year end meeting on June 3 from 7-8pm via zoom.  Please check out Clayburn PAC's facebook page for more information.
