Another Busy Week at Clayburn Middle

Wow!  What a great week!  Clayburn was once again a place of excitement, activity, athletics and learning this week with two school wide events to finish out our week.  On Thursday, our Aboriginal Youth Worker, Ms Maria Benevides hosted a fabulous school wide activity day complete with story-telling, collaborative art, games, dancing, drumming and bannock making and welcomed members of various local First Nations communities.  Clayburn is the only school in the district to host an event like this so we are incredibly fortunate.  It is so important that we, as a community, get these types of opportunities to come together as a whole school and get out of the classroom to learn, share and experience.  A huge thank you to Maria Benevides and her students for hosting, helping to greet, set up and clean up.  The staff is especially grateful for the "Indian Tacos" (bannock on the bottom, covered in chili and then your choice of toppings)  It was delicious.

Our second school wide event, took place on Friday at Rotary Stadium as our athletes participated in the district track meet.  While we wait for the results to coming in, a huge thank you and congratulations to our athletes for representing Clayburn so strongly and so positively.  Another thank you to the large team of teachers who volunteered for practices and to run stations at the meet.  Come back next week for results!

Reminder for Kickstart next week:  June 12th to June 14th: Trumpets, French Horn, Baritone, Trombone, Tuba and Double Bass.
