Human and Social Development
School Goal:
- To improve student wellbeing.
Inclusion and a sense of belonging are a focus at Clayburn. Whether staff are starting mornings building class community, or students are trying to win “points” for their hallway team, we are striving for ways for students to connect with their peers, the many adults who care for them, and the school in general.
Staff participated in a reflective activity looking at systemic bias expressed in our system that we are striving to change.
Staff Development helps Teachers increase their capacity to add skills and knowledge to their teaching repertoire. Here teachers are learning the Indigenous version of rock – paper - scissors called sláhlí (Slah-lee) - swiyeqe (Swee-i-kah)- kw’í:tsel (Kweet-sull).
Our famous “Ben” engaging with students as they get off the bus. Ben is a steady feature, recently celebrated on Global for his commitment to connecting with students and welcoming them to school with his secret handshake.
Gr. 8’s beginning a competitive game of Benchball (while their teachers collaborate on their upcoming RTI blitz).
